overview

Our BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design is a critical and dynamic course concerned with the design and construction of interior space in clear relation to an architectural and urban framework. Contemporary interior practice, more and more, demands for versatile designers with innovative and technically advanced design skills to enable working through multiple media, programmatic requirements and challenging locations. To optimally prepare for such a demanding market place we focus on creative design practice that is investigative in nature and intellectually adventurous.

We conduct design projects in a studio environment that promotes conceptual, experimental and practical skills required of professional interior architect designers. Such design projects are supported by a technology programme focussed on the design and construction of complex architectural spaces, a media program focussed on multi-media environments and a wide-ranging theory program encouraging critical and individual enquiry in contemporary design issues.

Professional practice skills are developed through a dedicated management and practice programme accompanied by live projects in the UK and abroad, competitions, collaborations with major companies from the design industry and opportunities for work placements at leading design firms.

We have a growing reputation in developing graduates with strong creative and interdisciplinary skills able to adapt to diverse professional situations and embark directly on careers as interior architect designers working within interior architecture, installation design, set design and art practice or commence on post graduate studies.
