Holger Mattes

Sessional Lecturer Design

Holger studied architecture at the Technical Universities in Aachen, Delft and Berlin, where he graduated in 2001. He has extensive professional experience realising high profile projects in the UK and abroad. He was Associate at David Chipperfield Architects in London from 2007 to 2013, where he led the design and construction of the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery in Margate, residential
developments in London and Atlanta, and a hotel in Doha for Qatar Foundation and Herm├Ęs.

In 2013/14, he was responsible for the design of a series of large scale housing projects in London, working as Associate at Mae Architects. In 2015 he co-founded Erbar Mattes Architects. Holger was Assistant Professor at the Technical University in Aachen, and visiting critic at the Bartlett, University College London, and The Cass, London Metropolitan University.
